Frequently Asked Questions

How can I work with Tidy Abode?

The first step to working with Tidy Abode is to schedule a complimentary consultation. Consultations are 15-30 minutes and take place virtually, or in your home. The consultation is an opportunity for you to learn more about Emma’s approach to home organization, share your home organizing goals, and have all of your questions answered.

How long will it take for Tidy Abode to organize my home?

Every project is unique, just like every home! Following your consultation, Emma will schedule time to take measurements of your space, and will put together a design plan for organizing your space. After completing revisions and ordering materials, Emma will schedule time for decluttering and organization of your home. Depending on your availability and engagement in the organizing process, you can expect your project to be completed 4-6 weeks following your initial consultation.

How much should I expect to spend on home organization?

Tidy Abode has two pricing models: full service organization and editing. For clients opting for full service organization, a design fee is charged based on the number of rooms being organized. The design fee covers all time spent on measurements, design, design revisions, product ordering and product management. In addition to the design fee, clients are charged Tidy Abode’s hourly rate for time spent in your home completing organization. Additional factors that contribute to the cost of the overall project include organizational products used, and the level of decluttering services needed in your home. During your consultation, Emma will look at your home and provide an estimate on the number of hours needed to complete your project. If you are hoping to stick to a specific budget, be sure to communicate that clearly during your consultation. Emma charges $75/hour for editing services, with a minimum of 4 hours booked per session.

I tried to organize my own home but it isn’t working…now what?

Many Tidy Abode clients have previously tried to organize their own homes, and have ended up frustrated with their results. If this describes you, don’t worry! Emma will work to incorporate any organizational materials that you previously purchased into your organizational design. Previously purchased items that are not incorporated into the final design are donated to local non-profits.

I’m interested in wardrobe editing. What is included in this service?

Wardrobe editing sessions are typically scheduled for 4 hours. During this time, we discuss your aspirational style as well as how you spend your time. Once we have an idea of what clothing you actually wear and what you like, we remove everything from your closet (or anywhere else in your home that your clothes are hiding). Together, we go through your clothing piece by piece and decide what to keep, what to consign and what to donate. At the end of the session Emma puts all of your “keep” clothing back in your closet and takes all donations to a local non-profit. Clients are responsible for consignment items, but Emma can provide guidance on the consignment process. Following wardrobe editing many clients schedule additional sessions for wardrobe consultation, styling services, and closet organization.
